UK NARIC promoting UK applied qualifications and vocational education in China

UK NARIC is playing a central role in promoting UK expertise in applied qualifications and vocational education in China.

Our CEO, Dr Cloud Bai-Yun, is a keynote plenary speaker at IFIE (International Forum on Industry and Education) in Zhumadian, China, 23 and 24 June.

The Forum was opened by China’s Vice-Minister of Education and is welcoming delegations from around the world, many of which are seeking to develop their collaboration with Chinese institutions.

Leading Chinese figures are in attendance, from China’s Ministry of Education, the National Centre for Schooling Development Programme, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the associations for Universities and Colleges of Applied Sciences.

The drive towards more practical and vocationally relevant education in Chinese universities, and greater integration of industry and education, is an important focus in Chinese policy at the moment, and is included in the current national Five-Year Plan.

Also part of this China policy drive is the new ‘International High Standard Application Oriented Institutions Programme’ - UK NARIC is the exclusive facilitator for this programme in the UK.

This scheme offers opportunities for UK institutions to develop vocationally relevant course content for new, more practical curricula in Chinese institutions, with associated staff exchanges and UK-China joint degrees.
